Time

Saturday was our anniversary! We decided to make a trip to Grand Junction to just check it out and see what all the fuss is about. The day started with a stop at Red Rock Bakery. I've been wanting to check out the local bakery since I got here! It's a block down from our "front door" so we made the walk. I failed to take a picture, but I got a breakfast spin. I didn't think to take a picture until after it was gone. In any case, it's basically a savory cinnamon roll and is huge and gorgeous. Doesn't do much justice, but still.

Then we hit the road. Grand Junction is the closest city to Moab (about 115 miles) with all the necessities such as Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and good Chinese food. While traveling we saw a sign for a Dinosaur Museum and David always likes those so we stopped. It was completely packed and upon arriving we learned that there was some kind of celebration that reduced the admission from $7 per adult to $1 per person! We like saving money! :) David took lots of pictures and even had me take one of him with the dino mascot. Of course, the pictures aren't here and it will be a while until they're posted.

We did stop at Best Buy, but found nothing worthy of our money (that's a new thing for me). Stopped at JCPenney to get a couple things (which all happened to be on sale). Went to Wal-Mart and found nothing we "needed". By this time the heat was getting to both of us (it's much more humid in Colorado apparently) and we were tired. The initial plan was to find the Chinese restaurant that our neighbor recommended and to find a better movie theater to watch ANY movie. The Chinese did not disappoint! First of all, there is no place in Moab that isn't fast food which costs less than $40 after a tip. To top it off, the food is often disappointing and average if not below average. It has been quite discouraging. David almost did a little dance of joy when we got the $15 ticket for the amazing buffet at the Dragon Wall. Everything tasted good and there was quite the selection! They even had a sushi chef taking requests! After Chinese we ended up going home and renting a couple movies instead.

Nothing too spectacular, but still fun to just get out and enjoy each others' company. I can't believe it has been a year already! This time last year David was throwing his back out packing up the U-Haul and we had no idea where we would end up! It's been the best first year for which I could have wished!
